Themes are a little like girlfriends or boyfriends in your early 20's; they come and go and you're always looking out for a new one or better one, although sometimes you do find one that just fits and sometimes you do find one that you are happy to settle down with.
Then, over time, things change. Soon, it will be Joomla and the birth of 1.6, after 1.0 and 1.5 and no doubt Joomla 2.0 and 3.0 and while all this is going on, you have to ask yourself does that theme fit in. However, by then, you've got a mortgage, car payments and children running around and with all that investment, both financially and emotionally, it is sometimes hard to move on and sometimes, when you look at the site, the spark is still there.
Anyway, my point is, it isn't just about themes any more, it is about how the Joomla world is moving on, which is why the Gantry Framework from RocketTheme is a splendid extension.
I should also point out that it isn't just RocketTheme that has this backend system, there are others and it isn't the be all and end all, but it really does make managing Joomla and your theme that little bit easier.
Which brings me to the new theme for this month. It is called Hybrid and it has it all. Click here for a demo but the main features are below and remember - it comes with Gantry - which is sort of the point to this post and why I should probably apologise for how it all started.
